Saint Brigid is Ireland’s patroness Saint, however in ancient times, she was the goddess Brigid or Bríg (Brìde as the Scots Gaelic equivalent).
This is an interpretation of Brìde’s story - the Scottish/Irish crossover tale of how Beira, the Scottish personification of winter, held Brìde captive for several weeks. Brìde was only released when she presented Beira some blooming flowers, indicating that it was spring once again, and Beira’s strength would soon wane.
